Holy Smokes...I've crossed over to the Dark Side!

Wow, I know I've been AWOL for a few months, glad you've stuck around! 

I have an iPhone now, and that is where the Dark Side comes in! I have always been a diehard Android fan....No more! Holy Crap Apple has made my life easier! I can do EVERYTHING from this phone and nothing crashes *Droid, you crashed my etsy app for the last time*

So mani spammy?? Yes indeed, if this is going to be easy as I think, I may be phone blogging for a bit :)

October Pink Ribbon Mani

OK, this month I wanted to alternate between Halloween themes and October Breast Cancer Awareness manis......Pink...which is just about my least favorite color. Since I know several people affected by breast cancer and it runs in my family, it is a topic near and dear to me.

Unfortunately, this one counts as a Fail in my book. I think I rushed the crucial "what the h--- am I going to do?" phase...big hairy no-no, lol!

At any rate, you get to see it, because for this, the thought counts, even though my rendition sucks....

2 coats of OPI's I Think In Pink-super sheer impulse buy that I need to franken with some white...

I sponged on some white spectraflair franken, some SH Twisted Pink, and the ribbons are also done with that color. I sponged on Revlon Silver Dollar after the fact...*thwacks self on head*...I just missed my bling, lol!

The nails with NO ribbon look pretty good, the ribbon part was the fail. Ah, well....if anyone has ideas on making a better/more precise ribbon, give me a yell!

*Oh, and still loving the gel nail polish as underwear...

Ho-Hum Starburst Mani

I went garage-sale-ing this weekend and found 2 polishes in some bins for cheap, so I bought them thinking they would be cheap for frankening or just the bottles. One was an Essie and one was a Maybelline that I decided to put on last night. Turns out, it's too pale for me, but it is still a cool color. I had no idea how old this thing was, but for the price, I was willing to try.

I put 2 coats of Maybelline Mo' Money Mauve and it was supposed to be a speed dry, but it was NOT. Then I decided it was too pale and something had to be done. So I did a scotch tape star burst with OPI Mother Road Rose-a truly awesome color in my stash. Here ya go....

These colors look amazing together, I thought. You might be able to see some of the colors that made me like the Maybelline polish...alas...just too darn pale for my taste! And the formula-could be it's age-is terrible. I added some polish thinner, but it still took forever to dry. I thought I would wake up to pillow-case nails, lol! (anyone else here missing the "mauve" in the color?!)

Northern Lights Mani and my failed first water marble

Hi there! I just got my first goodies from another blogger/blog sale, and boy was it worth it! I bought some beautiful polishes from ABOP and couldn't wait to play with them. The first one I played with was Misa Wishing On A Star and it is GORGEOUS! look!

I wanted to do a mani that didn't cover the base, because it rocks. I also wanted to do something that would bring out the pretty flecks of color in the base. You tell me if I was successful!

I first tried to water marble with these colors. Need I say more? Total FAIL...pic below...

Two coats of WOAS over a base coat ( I use whatever, LOL!), and sponged on Revlon Silver Dollar and then a bit of OPI Austen-tatious TURQUOISE (hahaha...got it right!) over the tips of the silver sponging. By the way, the OPI is not as bright over a light base....

Then several coats of top coat, I love the result, what do you think??

And last but not least, my failed water marble. After 3 tries, all miserably bad....I went online and watched a lot of YouTube videos on how-to LOL! I think my water was cold, and that seems to be the only thing I did different. My polish didn't spread out much after the first drop, and ended up in a big blob on my nails. I take all input on how to improve on this skill! ABOP convinced me to try it on my accent fingers first, and I thought this polish would rock in a water marble...*sigh* (it really would have been cool)

Teal Me Away Glittery Gradient

I felt like some blues, so of course it couldn't be a plain blue mani, Oh, No...

I started with 2 coats of SH Blue Me Away

I will say this now...please forgive/ignore the messy cuticles and such. For some reason lately, every time I clean up, I mess up the whole nail. After the base coat, I decided to sponge a gradient, and play around a bit. I used all the polishes below.



I sponged on OPI Austen-tatious Teal, sponged on a little SH Black Out at the tips. After I rethunk this...I added more OPI ATT over the tips to really make it show. Then, because I simply couldn't stop, I dabbed on a little bit of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie with a detail brush on all the tips and up the nail a bit. I personally think the color combo is a bit edgy, but I still LOVE it!! The pictures don't do it justice, because when I move my hands, you can see the purple, a teal metallic and then of course GLITTER!

I might try posting a video later, but for now, click on the pics if you want to see the sparkly details. It was so funny at work...a burly male customer commented to me "nice nails". Now, I personally take that as a high compliment when a guy says that. Not in a flirting way...just to comment! So I think that makes this mani a success in my book!

Is that a metallic polish or what?!

I got asked that question when I wore this mani earlier this week, and I honestly couldn't answer...."Um, it's actually 3 different polishes and yes, one was gold!" This one was Totally Fun to do! I purchased OPI Austen-tatious Turquoise from Amazon and a pinkish-plum holo ...but this one won me over, because it is a purple-turquoise duo chrome...but you all knew that! I am just slow to find current fashion colors...or even old ones!

I put on 1 good solid coat of SH Black Out for a base, because the OPI is SHEER (look on the pic below in the background...paper with some polish on it). Turns out, the black was perfect! The picture above is 2 coats of the OPI ATT, and it looks amazing, imo. It is hard to catch the purple but I really didn't care, it looked so yummy.

Then...because I can NEVER leave well enough alone...I sponged on Pure Ice, Jaguar...which is really a gorgeous color but looks horrible on me with nothing else...HORRIBLE!

But enough of that...here is the finished mani...are you drooling?! (pictures don't do it justice)

This mani was really distracting lol...soooo pretty and every now and then I would catch the purple and gold as I typed at work....weeee!
