Random Mani Spam-Fest part 2

Here are some more random mani pictures....Life is still incredibly busy, so nothing truly exceptional here....just enough to keep me sane (well...maybe)

They are listed from the top, newest down to the bottom, from at least a week or so ago...

Ultra subtle stamping over 2 coats of A-England Dragon. I used my Konad special stamping polish....I was either screwed with this purchase or got a bad bottle, because it is VERY sheer for color.

It showed up fairly well in the light box but was almost imperceptible on the nail in real life...ah well....

Pure Ice, Oh Baby over Orly Le Chateau...great combo, but too dark for the gorgeous sunny weather, so it only lasted a day, hahahaha!

2 Coats of  Spectraflair franken I made...so stunning in the sun!! I love a good blue polish....

And finally...Yes, I did wear this (below) at the hospital...it was raining for 2 days straight and I NEEDED sunshine!!

2 coats of Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow , with Finger Paints Asylum over the top....I love flakies over bright yellow!

Butterfly Nirvana

Hope everyone had a fun and safe St.Patrick's Day if you celebrated! I'm not much of a party-er and stayed home and relaxed with family.

This mani evolved while I worked on it...I initially planned on stamping a chrome black right over Sinful Colors Nirvana, but I saw an untried and got maybe a bit carried away, hehehehe...
2 coats of SC Nirvana-love this color...

 Combined lighting from Ott light and fluorescent light bulb, above.

Just a tiny little Ott light I found-makes me look pale but maybe the most color-accurate picture.

Now with the untried...Sally Hansen Glass Slipper-ooh are those white Flakies I see?? Yup, I think they are. My friend Saundie bought this and was telling me how pretty it was. I had seen it, but didn't realize what it would look like on the nail...awesome polish imo.

OK, it looks better from a distance, I know...close up the color accents on the butterflies are a bit wonky, but I still love them. This may be one of those times when I should have stopped while I was ahead, but I wanted a tiny bit more color on this mani. Nirvana is such a cool/odd color to put other colors with, I am not very confident in my color pairings with this one.

Sunshine Spam Alert!

I think it is official...I have spring fever, but since the sun was playing peek-a-boo, I needed some on my fingers.

One coat of this awesome polish I bought called...L'Oreal Tweet Me



Look at that amazing orange glimmer! I noticed THAT after I brought it home. Almost took my breath away it was so cool. I added some copper hex glitter I bought for frankening. Unfortunately, it made a nasty chemical goo once it was in polish a few hours. Ah, well, it still rocks!

Spoiled Designated Driver + Flakies!

No, I don't think I am crazy but if you have seen this color in the bottle...you might be giving this post the hairy eyeball...

I walked past the Spoiled display after Christmas and said, "meh" but then I thought I would step out of my comfort zone and get something totally different....check 'er out!

This is like the weirdest/coolest color to me, lol. I couldn't figure it out until I had it on for a few days...it looks like cooked squash! LOL, Now you can call me loony!

Look familiar?! ROFL! I fell in love with this color when I was learning how to spin (make yarn from wool). Same darn color. I just about snorted, I laughed so hard when I realized. You know you have a problem when you are seeing a potential franken in beautiful yarns or thinking of how to make a cool yarn that looks like your favorite polish...GAH, I am a nut!

Above, with 2 coats of FP Asylum.....too FEW flakies for the look I envisioned....

Ah, there we go. I added a nice coat of Golden Rose Scale Effect! I wanted the purplish flakes to jump out more. I Adored how this looked, weird as it might seem. It made me happy. Ah, so distracting driving in the sunlight...

Summer Lights Mani and marbling progress

I decided to try some water marbling before I removed my Salty Margarita polish....but first, my finished creation! It turned out So cool!

OK, down to business...

Here is what I used, in order.

I did 2 coats of white as a base for this, not sure why, it just seemed right. Then I sponged on the Sinful Colors blue cream diagonally, and added the SH green diagonally also...leaving a white swatch in between. The SH yellow added sort of wherever and the same with the Nina Ultra Pro frosty blue. I made a sparkly topcoat franken that has blue, green and gold tiny glitter, and little black specks that aren't glitter, but just there, lol! That went on top of this mani, though. Here it what it looked like before my sparkly franken...

I liked it like this with no sparklies! But alas.... you know me and bling!

2 coats of my blue/green/black franken TC...

The camera wasn't picking up the glitter at all, it seemed like. It isn't heavily glittered, though. I used some old SV as a base for this franken. Man alive I love how this looks, though! 2 heavy coats of SV to gloss the heck out of this.

Now, here is my progress in water marbling. This try seems to have eliminated the "blob" effect, since the polish spread out better this time. I was so happy with how it was coming out I did three over my previous mani so that I could be sure it wasn't a fluke, lol!

I think I will get some distilled water for my next try, since we have well water and it's pretty hard...that might help the polish spread out more, because that still seems to be an issue. But I am happy that I am improving at this, for whatever reason....but I do want to know what is making the difference!

Oh, and I would love some feedback on helping get my nails stronger. I bought this nail strengthener on the first pic...we'll see how it does. Does anyone out there use anything specific they like for helping nails grow/get stronger/split less?

Purple Franken Flowers

I got the franken bug again and made a very cool looking purple, glitzy franken. I will show you the finished bottle first, then the craziness that went into it!

This is a bit blurry, but it was the best picture to show off the holo-type glitter I put in it. Here is the mani I did with it.

I did 2 coats of my purple Glitz franken, and little dot flowers with Revlon Silver Dollar, yellow dots in the middle for an accent. I got a little carried away with the yellow...a bit runny, so not as clean-cut as I would have liked :0(

Here is what I used to create this polish...

I added the holo micro-glitter after I decided I needed more Bling!...I DO love my glittery bling.... I loved what the Revlon Gold Coin did to the mix, but it wasn't as pronounced as I would have liked, hence the holo glitter.

For the first time, I experienced the SV shrinkage issue, but it took me half a day at work to figure out what was bugging me about this manicure. The little bit that is left in that bottle will be recycled into a franken, so that is OK, only about a fifth of the bottle left.  By the way, my last manicure left my nails stained yellow green, even with a base coat...bummer!

Day-Glo green/yellow!

I picked up this little mini from Sally Beauty Supply and it was tiny but cheap and I wanted bottles for frankens LOL!

No name on it, I thought it would be sheer, it was. It took 3 coats, but WORTH it! Look!

That is 3 coats with topcoats sandwiched in between... So I let this site overnight to enjoy that almost glow-in-the-dark green/yellow glory! It really grew on me, I can tell you. But since I didn't think my boss would appreciate something that "in your face", I tried to tone it down with stamping.

I used SH Aquamarine Chrome polish...man, these ROCK for stamping. I got the idea from Sammy on her blog, http://nailasaurus.blogspot.com/p/stamping-polishes.html

Oh, Sunny Day! (not)

I am getting Totally tired of rainy days on the weekends and oh, maybe 1 nice day during my work week, so I did something fun and funky for this past weekend. I just didn't get it posted on the blog! I hit CVS, thinking to get 1 polish if I found a color I couldn't pass on, and of course I came out of there with 2 Sally Hansen colors and 1 Rimmel on clearance for $1.07...Now tell me, could you have resisted?! Ha, I thought not!

I started with SH Blue me Away ( I think that was the name!) and it took me awhile to decide, but it reminded me of blue skies...so here ya go!

 After everything dried and I had decided what to do, I sponged on little clouds, except for the thumbs. Man alive, the suns were tricky, and not perfect, but ah, well! I sponged around the worst edges with some clouds. The yellow is also a SH yellow(if you want the exact colors, e-mail me, I'll dig them out LOL). On a whim I added a little bird to one thumb, but Iwasn't talented enough to do both thumbs :0) And little holo stars added on the other fingers. This definitely improved my attitude over the weekend, since I had my own sunny day with me no matter what! Yes, I am a bit of a hick and a redneck girl.....but hey, I am what I am!

Limelight mani

Couldn't think of a better name for this one, but I am loving the look. I just got some Sally Hansen Chrome Green in a pen. I wasn't impressed by the pale pink I bought but the chromes ROCK!!

I started out with my franken I am calling Bananorama, 2 coats, with Orly's speed dry/deep cure top coat sandwiched. Top coat of speed dry SV.

I used a bit of scotch tape to make sure I painted a straight line down half of my nails. Since the Chrome Green is an instant dry, this went very fast.

Here is the finished look. I used a dotting tool and my Bananorama to make matching accents in the chrome area, then topped with SV speed dry top coat. I totally love this combo!



Bananorama Franken

I just thought I would post a franken of mine (ok, I only have 2 so far lol), but I love it. I have a boatload of different whites from french mani kits. Not sure why I have like 5 of them, but go figure! When I am down and feeling broke, I have always bought polish. By and large, a cheap pick-me-up and it's legal! OK..on to the franken...


I took a China Glaze yellow called Solar Power and a Nailene brand French White (note to self-don't use the French mani bottles...brush is way too skinny). I only used about 1/3  or 1/4 bottle of the yellow and about half the bottle of french white.



And from these 2, I got...

BANANORAMA!! lol Much better IMO, than that yellow CG.
