Brocade Mani (spam alert!)

Hmmm, this mani was inspired by ABOP's post here.... I don't have any deep dark pinks...so I winged it, so to speak :0) The end result of this experiment is shown in all of its hot glory below, hahahaha!
I started with a nail polish brand that I know nothing about-you will see the bottle. I picked up the set at Ross and the base color is Hibiscus!

The colors aren't "true" in the above picture... but close.

Above...under an Ott light. Below in the light box...

2 coats of Hibiscus...somewhere between red-garnet in my mind, but it is lovely and the formula was surprisingly nice. 1st coat was streaky 2nd was heaven...

The next addition was Essie Shine of the Times...Wow, the flakies are dense in this stuff!

Almost left it like this...but I really wanted to try ABOP's look....so I was brave....

I used one of the newer Bundle Monster plates and Sally Hansen Cinnamon Chrome (not 100% positive on the color name)
I started with a cool color, warm flakies in between, and stamped with a cool color again. I think it is a success but it bugs my OCD gene just enough that I am not sure if I'm crazy or not on this one...

It reminds me of rich, red brocade fabric. The stamping over the top give it a lot of texture and the shifting flakies add to that even more. I found these pictures online...

What do you think, success or not?! Let me know what you think!

Gold Holo Franken

Hey there! I hope everyone had a safe and joyous holiday.

We celebrated Christmas at my daughter's home, the first real Christmas she has had there, since she moved in right before the holiday last December. Good food, card games and plenty of silly string...for those if you that don't know the mess of silly string-think foam string that shoots out of a can at people. My son got me right on the face and then the race was on! A few minutes later...we had to start the clean-up, hehehehe. It was WORTH it!!! I am a rowdy Mom:)
Ok, my mani has my gellac back on...all the crafts made me cut my nails down to almost teeny nubbins from nicks, splits and dents. So I put the gellac/gel nails back on-just 2 coats of clear base coat for strength.
Two coats of Sinful Colors Timbleberry and 2 coats of a Gold Holo franken.

Below is the franken I made from gold holo fine glitter, and gold holo bar glitter-very pretty topper to any color!
Also I took a picture of all the finished leather Altoid boxes. The one on the top was my first. There is  a Trillium flower painted on the top. They grow wild here up in the mountains if you are lucky enough to catch their blooming season

And here is a sneaky little devil helping himself to someones water cup while she was napping. I couldn't resist catching Goliath at this, it cracked me up. Yes, I did tell her it was raided by him, hahahaha....I'm not that mean!

Wine and Golden havoc

Allrighty...I bought a boxed Mac Holiday set online, mostly because I wanted to try Mac polish and also-duh-it had a GOLD polish that was gorgeous. Since we all know I am a sucker for metallic polish...

The wine color looked beautiful but was a gory mess to apply! 3 heavy, draggy coats and it still had questionable coverage. A co-worker told me that is just the way those colors are-BUMMER!
It turned out beautiful in the end but it took hours to finish this mess.

Here are the guilty parties involved....the glitter is a top coat franken that was a piece of cake to make, and awesome over the red/wine. Take care and tell me if you have had better luck with Mac polishes, or with this color of polish in general....

Berry Blingfest swatch

Here are some pics of the Franken I made for my friend Saundie, Berry Blingfest. She is a big fan of Zoya polishes and their colors, so I tried to make something with those tones.

I totally LOVE this color! The are tiny blue sparkles and in differnet light, it looks lighter and more golden-hued. This is 2 coats. I decided to wear this and stamp it, but I think it ruined the glitz!
Ah, well.....I really enjoyed making this franken!

Franken craze

So last Monday, I did the frankenbeige mani and I got a strange craving to make more frankenpolishes! weird, huh?! Even had dreams about some...Hey, I never said I was normal! I really wanted to find a way of thanking a friend of mine...she is always sharing her polish goodies and giving me the ones that don't seem to like her skin tone...I love it! So I started playing...

The colors I used are in the top picture, and the finished little bottle of glitz is the the second. I had to ask for help naming it, though. Berry Blingfest!
